About Black Tears

Producing rum for nearly 500 years, Cuba has never allowed the creation of a flavoured/spiced product; until now. It has taken more than 13 years of working with the Cuban Government to be able to give the world the First Ever Spiced Cuban Rum, and it has been worth the wait. Using column stills that are over 40 years old, Black Tears is produced using a blend of traditionally produced Cuban rums, ranging between 2 and 5 years old which are then infused with natural, all Cuban ingredients Cacao, Coffee and a sweet chilli known locally as Aji Dulce. These dry ingredients are all indigenous to Cuba and are the reason the word “Dry” features on the front label. 
All production steps take place at our distillery which was first built in 1944, located in a province in the heart of the Island, Ciego de Avila. The distillery was left abandoned for many years, following a hurricane which devastated the island, and when re-discovered, it unearthed close to 7,000 barrels of aged and aging rums. Some of these are now used in the final blend of Black Tears Dry Spiced rum which we get to share with the world. The true spirit of Cuba and it's people bottled.
