In itself a riff on a negroni, which is a stretch from an old fashioned; a negroni too is a combination of a spirit, a sugar and a bitter. The Old Pal was created by Harry McElhone in Paris at Harry’s Bar in honor of his friend William Robinson, sports editor for the New York Herald in Paris.
